CSWA Farm Plan Workshop
Tuesday, May 26, 2020

Targeted Education Workshop
Your office or home computer -
The webinar is designed to assist winegrape growers with vineyards in Napa River and Sonoma Creek watersheds that must comply with the Region 2 General Waste Discharge Requirements for Vineyard Properties. This water quality control regulation (‘the Order’), which was adopted in July 2017, requires vineyard properties in the Napa River and Sonoma Creek watersheds with five or more acres planted to winegrapes to have a completed and verified farm plan by July 31, 2020.
Several Third-Party Programs have been approved by the Region 2 Water Board to assist winegrowers in complying with the permit, including the California Sustainable Winegrowing Alliance (CSWA) program, the Sonoma and Napa Resource Conservation Districts (RCD) LandSmart program and the California Land Stewardship Institute’s Fish Friendly Farming program. All Third-Party Programs work with growers to help them meet the permit requirements to develop and verify a Farm Plan. Working with Third-Party Programs can
- reduce the fees growers pay to the Regional Board,
- lower the amount of monitoring and paperwork required and
- provide helpful guidance through the compliance process.
The webinar will provide an overview of the Order, CSWA’s Third-Party Program for compliance, and details on the CSWA Farm Plan Template. The CSWA Farm Plan walks growers through a hybrid of the Resource Conservation Districts’ (RCD) LandSmart and California Code of Sustainable Winegrowing.
